Xtranormal is a fun and easy way to make customized movies with what they call Showpaks. The characters look like pinocchio type characters that look as if they are in a time in history or in some type of political or blue collar position. This program is perfect for getting into the minds of a famous person being studied in history or other subjects. You can upload your own photos of famous individuals and use a webcam to add your own voice and lips to that person in the picture.

First you give it a name and then choose the scene, characters and type a script. Load scene through the media tab, then you either use the choices they have or upload/import your own pictures. You customize the angles of the frame sets or you can frame your action by selecting a pre-defined camera shot, making and saving your own setup, or rely on our Magicam option for automatic camera switching. You can also bring your characters to life by drag-and-drop animation system, and multiple pictures in your script or even import personal movies in various formats. It’s as simple as that. Adjust the sound and length, then you just preview your movie. You pictures become characters in the movie.

I can see students of all ages making movies and scripting plays and scene in history for essays, reports and customized presentations. They can be any length, online or on-screen, and private and public. It’s up to you and it is easy to do.

  1. I would like to try this. I researched Animoto which is a video producer. This looks like it could be used to teach video as well. It looks like it could be used for many different reasons, like History day projects where students research a particular person and then do a report on it. This tool could be used to allow kids to make videos for their projects. This is one that I am going to check out!
